Identifying Major Gifts Using Data Science

Led by Marianne Pelletier, this workshop is perfect for your Prospect Research, Business Intelligence, or Fundraising Data Science teams to learn how to identify new prospects from exploratory statistics to regression using R. This is a beginner’s course in using R and in conducting nonprofit statistics.

About 90% of nonprofits are great at collecting data, but only half fully use the data they collect. Data science helps nonprofits use data to its fullest potential. The problem is that most nonprofits don’t have a dedicated data analysis team, the resources, or expertise to implement an analytic program and draw meaningful conclusions from the data collected.

Ruthie Giles is the presenter and the workshop is ideal for Prospect Management, Operations Management, and Prospect Development teams to build out an optimized prospect management system for immediate implementation at your shop.

The process of prospect management allows you to better manage your fundraiser’s portfolios for highly effective and efficient fundraising. You can see how prospects are moving through the pipeline and create strategies that help bring in gifts.

You identify how prospects should be prioritized for optimal results that move your entire fundraising team towards their goals. Prospect management allow you to manage all the moving parts to the process, which can otherwise quickly become overwhelming.

Creating a Power BI Dashboard for Major Gifts

Greg Duke is the presenter and the workshop is perfect for Business Intelligence staff who want to launch a Power BI dashboard using your organization’s data; Major Gifts department heads who want to design a transparent and thorough dashboarding for gift officer coaching; and Operations executives who are launching a new visualization project.

Power BI is a free tool from Microsoft, but it takes a bit of work to use it well. Greg Duke walks you through how to build a dashboard to both manage Major Gifts officers and to provide them with the best view of your prospect pool, including flexible maps. Fundraising totals, dynamic graphs, and selecting certain populations — along with excellent formatting for ease of use — will be covered.

Early bird registration is available at $997 until September 27, after which the price will be $1,200. The fee includes breakfast and lunch on both days. There is special accommodation rates at the Sheraton Monarch Springfield, MA offering rooms at $149 per night plus tax and parking.
